I grew up on homemade bread. It's something I crave whenever the weather starts to cool down. There's nothing like homemade toast and tea on a frosty morning to get you out of bed. I tried a recipe I found at The Frugal Mom for Amish white bread a couple months ago and it turned out great but didn't quite taste like my mom's so this time I made a double batch but used half the sugar and one 1 tsp salt (rather then the 1 1/2) I think it tastes a lot better, although I may still tweak it a bit to get it perfect. My mom does it by feel so she doesn't have a recipe anymore that she follows...I may just have to get her to make bread with me a few time to get a feel for it.
