Jeff and I escaped for a little road trip on Saturday to meet a new baby and visit with family. Driving in this direction always feels like I'm heading home even though I've always lived here at the coast.

It struck me again how blessed we are to live in this part of the world. I'm a little biased, I'm sure, but I think it's one of the most beautiful places I've seen.

50F1.8 @ F4/ISO 2500/SS 320. I've been playing around with my camera at higher iso settings. I know this is something that is generally avoided where possible but I have to say in all honesty I don't really mind the noise. I wouldn't want it in every photo but I don't despise it either.

spring, is that you?

It's raining and drizzly and grey outside right now but over the weekend and last week we had such glorious sunshine. It's tricked my daffodils into thinking it's spring and they are all pushed up a good 2 inches above the dirt.  My herbs are looking a little rough overall but a few velvety leaves remain. I couldn't resist grabbing a photo of them as they crept into the sunshine.

I'm hoping this rain is just a brief interlude in an unusually sunny spring. We need all the sunshine we can get around here.
